Graveyards Code of Practice

No new grave shall be opened, or existing grave re-opened without the permission of the Rector and Churchwardens.

No headstone, border or other monument shall be erected without the prior permission of the Rector and Churchwardens. The size, design, proposed wording and materials to be used must be submitted in writing before any works commence.

Cremated remains may be buried in a dedicated cremation plot, and marked with a square stone, laid into the ground, and no larger than 50mm x 50mm. The proposed wording and materials to be used must be submitted in writing before any works commence.

St. Eigneach’s, Kilegney, shall remain a ‘lawn’ cemetery with no boundaries or grave surrounds permitted.

Rates for Permission to Open a Grave

For Non-Parishioners and/or Non-Subscribers

New Double Grave ...................................................................................... €3,000

New Single Grave or Urn space (for cremated remains) ....... €2,000

To re-open a grave or Burial of an Urn ................................................ €1,000

Burial in a dedicated cremation plot .................................................. € 650

For Parishioners and Subscribing Non-Parishioners
