Killanne Union of Parishes
Who We Are
We are a small, welcoming Church of Ireland community in the heart of County Wexford, rooted in faith, tradition, and local heritage. As a union of parishes, we come together in worship, support one another in daily life, and seek to share a sense of belonging with all who join us.
Our Faith
We are part of the Church of Ireland, a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Our worship is rooted in scripture, tradition, and reason, and follows the Book of Common Prayer.
As a parish community, we gather regularly for worship, prayer, and fellowship, seeking to grow in faith and to support one another in daily life. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds, whether long-standing members of the Church or those simply exploring faith.
Our services are centred on the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, expressed through a balance of tradition and openness, reflection and community.
Cashel Ferns Ossory
Killanne Union of Parishes is part of the Diocese of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory, which serves communities across the south-east of Ireland.
The diocese has a long and rich Christian heritage, stretching back to the earliest days of the Irish church. Today, it continues to support parish life through worship, pastoral care, and outreach in local communities.
As a union of parishes, we work together with neighbouring churches to share ministry, resources, and a common sense of purpose—serving both our congregations and the wider community.
Safeguarding Trust
We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone.
The Church of Ireland Safeguarding Trust policies guide all aspects of our work with children, young people, and vulnerable adults. This includes safe recruitment practices, training, and clear procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all who take part in parish life.
We believe that safeguarding is an essential part of our Christian responsibility—ensuring that our church is a place of care, trust, and dignity for all.
Our Local Heritage
Killanne (from the Irish Cill Anna, meaning “Church of St Anne”) is an ancient parish with deep historical and spiritual roots.
The area is closely associated with the 1798 Rebellion and with John Kelly of Killanne, one of its leaders, who is buried in the local churchyard.
There has been a place of Christian worship in this area for centuries, with traditions linked to St Anne and an historic holy well nearby.
Today, that long heritage continues through our parish churches and the life of our community, connecting past and present through worship, remembrance, and shared faith.
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
— 1 Corinthians 3:9
